Shop ‘n’ Drop is an evening drop in program that gives parents the chance to do some Christmas shopping for, and without, the kids.
It breaks down like this. Mom and Dad bring little Timmy or Susie to where you are holding the Shop ‘n’ Drop at around 6pm. Then they go out and do their shopping, go to dinner, see a movie, go to a Christmas party…whatever. During this time little Timmy and Susie and all the other children that have been dropped off are busy playing games, making crafts, watching a movie, etc.
It’s basically childcare at night on Friday and/or Saturday. It give parents the chance to be alone for an evening. Organizations should offer Shop ‘ n Drop nights because ultimately you want parents to think of you and your organization as a safe and accessible place for their children, and because most of us are in the business of serving our community the best way we can.
Shop ‘n’ Drops are easy to do and can be a neat fundraiser for a specific program. I would suggest that the kids have a chance to make a holiday card while they’re there. Parents love that.
