The other day a friend of mine (a fellow rec head) called me…
“Do you know how to make balloon animals.”
“Clowns kind of freak me out, but balloons being twisted, now that really scares me. Maybe it was because a balloon popped in my face when I was a kid and I’ve blocked out the memory of it, I don’t know.”
“Do you know anything about film making?”
“Besides pointing the camera and hitting “record”, no I don’t?”
“What about making mixed drinks. Do you know how to make mixed drinks?”
“I bartended for a few months when I was 21 but I don’t remember any of the drinks.”
“Do you know how to tie your shoes?”
“Uh…yeah, and I know how to hang up the phone too.”
“Wait, I was just kidding. We’re putting together some new programs. Balloon Twisting, How to Make Mixed Drinks and Film Making are the three new classes we want to offer, but we don’t want to go with contract instructors. Staff here have some experience with these topics but we need more information.”
“Check out some books from the library. Or go to the Website of the Week where you can rent DVDs that cover these topics and much more. It’s kind of like Netflix for educational films.”
“Thanks man, I can always count on you for ideas and resources.”
“Yes you can.”
