I have been to my share of conferences and workshops and have felt that the American Camp Association regional and national conferences have always been top notch with workshops that are fun, educational and interesting. Parks and Recreation trainings, on the other hand, don’t quite meet my expectations normally.

It’s true that I am all about programming, and, though very important, risk management, administrative tactics, park planning, and human resource workshops don’t quite do it for me. So when I decide to attend a conference I want a fair amount of programming workshops.

CPRS (California Park and Recreation Society) is THE organization to be a part of if you are working in the California parks and recreation arena. And, yes, they hold an annual conference. Though I have not been impressed with the lack of programming workshops in the past, this next conference has potential. With workshops like Leadership Training for Urban Youth, 100 Good, Bad and Ugly Program Ideas, and Trick Out Your Teen Programs, I am, for the first time, looking forward to attending.
