There used to be a great magazine called Motto. In one of the issues it highlighted the company Cranium. The article was very cool as is the company. One of the neat things that was in the article was Cranium’s 7 rules that their employees live by. If you’re a recreation professional I think you’ll appreciate these rules. I know I do.
Summer has come to an end, as well as my month long vacation, but my favorite time of the year is approaching, fall – time to resume my writing.
Summer means traveling for many people. When out-of-towners come to your city do you have any recreation programs available for them?
Last year we, by the request of parents in our community, we began selling photos that we took at our ballet recitals. We have always taken photos at all of our big events, at camp and during our after school programs, but they were only for promotional purposes. We would use the good photos in our activity guides, our flyers and on our website.

I’m currently working on our fall activity guide, and that means it’s time to reconsider what programs to keep around, toss out and add. So as we looked back on the past year we found that some of our biggest programs (had the most participants) were a bit of a surprise.
