This past weekend was a busy one. It all started on Friday.
A couple of months ago I met with a coworker of mine to plan an event. The event was a summer camp “round table”. The idea was to get recreation pros from Northern California together to share ideas about summer camp. There were three main topics; programs and activities, marketing and promotion, and staff issues. We had hoped to get 30 people to attend. We ended up with 90 people and had to turn away at least 20 others due to the space we had available.
I can’t tell you how many neat ideas came form the round table discussions. I’m sure you would like to hear them. Well, I intend to share them with you as soon as I go through them all and put them in some sort of sensible order. Good stuff.
On Sunday our staff got together for a retreat. It was a 2-day retreat that was geared towards developing a 5 year plan for our organization and an action plan for 2009/2010 (isn’t it crazy to think that we are nearing 2010 – aren’t we supposed to have laser guns and hovering cars by now?). During our retreat the staff came up with a lot of neat ideas for after school programs and special events. Over the next month I will share some of those ideas with you as well.
I just wanted to let you all know that I have a lot of great information to bring you. Check back daily or better yet click on the RSS feed button and subscribe to this blog.
